What a provincial private sewage certificate means. In Alberta, a private sewage permit can only be taken out by a contractor who holds a certificate of competency for private sewage. A PS certificate covers every type of private sewage system and also lets the holder take out permits for water and sewer service connections. An R-PS certificate is restricted to holding tanks.
